Rollingwood is a city in Travis County, Texas, United States. Part of the Austin–Round Rock metropolitan area, the population was 1,467 at the 2020 census. Of the 489 households 45.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 74.8% were married couples living together, 7.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 15.5% were non-families. 12.9% of households were one person and 6.1% were one person aged 65 or older. The average household size was 2.87 and the average family size was 3.15. The age distribution was 29.8% under the age of 18, 4.6% from 18 to 24, 21.7% from 25 to 44, 32.4% from 45 to 64, and 11.4% 65 or older. The median age was 42 years. For every 100 females, there were 98.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.5 males. Rollingwood is near Loop 360 six miles west of Austin in southwestern Travis County. It was founded and developed by George B. Hatley in 1955. By May 1963 the community incorporated as a municipality with a mayor-council form of government. Its population in 1960 was 390; by 1970 it was 780. It is a residential suburb of Austin. Rollingwood maintained its own police services and volunteer fire department. It had five small service businesses and was part of the Eanes Independent School District in the late 1960s. The number of residents had increased to 905 by 1980, and to 1,376 by 1988. In 1990 the population was 1,388. The population was 1,403 in 2000.
