Woodcreek is a city in Hays County, Texas, United States. Like its neighbor of Wimberley, Woodcreek is a primarily a retirement community. The population was 1,770 at the 2020 census. There were 588 households, out of which 19.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 64.8% were married couples living together, 4.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.3% were non-families. 26.5% of all households were made up of individuals, and 16.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.17 and the average family size was 2.58. Woodcreek is a primarily residential community located on Ranch Road 12 about fifteen miles northwest of San Marcos and about a mile north of Wimberley in western Hays County. Development began in the 1970s, and by the early 1980s Woodcreek had a country club and eighteen-hole golf course. Citizens incorporated in the mid-1980s and established a mayor and council form of government. By that time construction slowed considerably due to the downturn in the state economy, but by the 1990s the community was recovering, and the population showed steady growth. In 1990 Woodcreek reported 889 residents. That figure increased to 1,274 in 2000.
